Best Interior Designers: How would you describe your work style?
Best Interior Designers: Being in love with our work is always the key to achieving better results. Are you in love with this job? What do you love most about being an interior designer?
Marina Zamora: Yes, of course! I’m totally in love with my job. What I love most is giving back to the space the life and the soul that it had once but has been lost after years since its construction
Best Interior Designers: What is your philosophy on design and life?
Marina Zamora: Every space I design I do it with the same objective, it should be capable to create a positive emotion in the person who lives in there. Of course it has to be functional and aesthetically beautiful but the most important thing is to be able to bring out that feeling. I Always work with the same eagerness, to create a magical space for that person. I like that when someone enters at home says “¡How beautiful!”, but what I like most is someone who says “¡This house is very me!”, “This house makes me feel me”!
Best Interior Designers: Keeping up to date on all the trends is essential for anyone who wants to conquer this market. In what ways do you keep current with new trends?
Marina Zamora: I used to attend design and art expositions and museums, also I try to go to some of the events I get invited to. Once or twice every month I visit showrooms. And especially I read interior design magazines and I check social media every day, Instagram and Pinterest are the best ones to keep me updated.
Best Interior Designers: Which major international events do you attend/follow to get the latest novelties?
Marina Zamora: Milano design week, Interi Hotel in Barcelona
Best Interior Designers: How would you describe your personal decorating style?
Marina Zamora: My personal decorating style is minimalist, nordic, and poetic. Also, it should be functional and very pleasant for living.
Best Interior Designers: All artists need some inspiration to work, and interior designers are artists too. So, what or who really inspires you?
Marina Zamora: Poetry, beauty in general, Wabi-Sabi philosophy, and Rothko in some way.
Best Interior Designers: Inspiration is something that pushes everyone to create unique things. What makes you see the world in a different way?
Marina Zamora: The research of beauty in any little thing in the world
Best Interior Designers: If you had to pick one project around the world that you wish was made by you, which one would it be?
Marina Zamora: That’s a difficult question. There are many, but I would say one from Alvaro Siza or some Japanese architects.
Best Interior Designers: How important is a perfect chemistry between you and your clients to achieve the best results? It is really important. I would say that’s one of the most important aspects in all the design process, so the result is for them and has to work properly for them.
Best Interior Designers: Do you think working with teams in interior design is better or worse than working alone? Why?
Marina Zamora: Working with teams is a lot better, as every different person has different skills needed to reach the best possible result.
Best Interior Designers: Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
Marina Zamora: A swimming-pool area in a Mediterranean style.
