Lori Morris
“From prolific artists and writers to the poets and musicians who define our times, great works of art evolve through a partnership shared with their muse. Providing focus, providing inspiration, providing clarity. At Lori Morris, we define their inspiration through the work of artisans and the vision of our clientele, capturing both the essence and elegance of a piece and adapting it into the narrative of a space. CAREER
How did you get involved in the interior design Industry?
I always knew I wanted to pursue something different for my life, to show the world my design abilities and create my own lane.
How would you describe your work style? Do you have any kind of signatures that help to identify your projects?
I am an artist first and foremost so I never follow a rule book or think ‘inside the box. For me design is about interpreting my clients’ dreams, mixing traditional and contemporary genres, and adding a sexy, unexpected twist to create a feeling. Color always plays an important role in expressing this so you will always see unique combinations of color and of course many layers of texture and detail selections to add interest and personality. ‘Sexy French’, my signature style I created, is inspired by my love of French and Modern design and describes my cohesive melding of traditional architecture with a gorgeous, sexy twist for a sumptuous yet comfortable and very livable space.

Being in love with our work is always the key to achieving better results. Are you in love with this job? What do you love most about being an interior designer?
I love all of my projects and consider myself very fortunate to be living my dream every day while creating my clients’ dreams.
What is your philosophy on design and life?
Be yourself. Work harder. Find your own voice and be fearless in your expression. I never follow trends and always find inspiration in my love of nature, fashion, classic architecture, and my clients’ vision. Each project takes on its own unique look and feel. Every time.
INSPIRATION
Keeping up to date on all the trends is essential for anyone who wants to conquer this market. In what ways do you keep current with new trends?
My designs are timeless because I don’t pay attention to trends.
How would you describe your personal decorating style?
Fearless. Sexy. Functional-because if it doesn’t work it doesn’t count. And most importantly, Elegant.

All artists need some inspiration to work, and interior designers are artists too. So, what or who really inspires you?
I’m inspired by everything around me but my love of traditional architecture, haute couture fashion, and nature shines through in all my designs.
Inspiration is something that pushes everyone to create unique things. What makes you see the world in a different way?
My design approach is simple: No rules. Each new project is an exciting opportunity to push the limits of my artistry and create a living breathing work of art for my clients.

PROJECTS
How important is a perfect chemistry between you and your clients to achieve the best results?
Trust is extremely important for me to create something special. I have incredible clients who fuel my artistry with their trust in me, to design something completely unique for their home.
Choosing the best pieces to compose a project can be the secret to getting the best overall result. Although it seems easy, this is a delicate task and needs full attention on time to execute. Do you have some tips for those who do not know well how to start a challenge like this?
Decide how you want the space to feel and how you want to live in it. This will determine what colors to select and the pieces that will work best to suit your needs.
Do you think working with teams in interior design is better or worse than working alone? Why?
We have a team of over 45 people at Lori Morris Design and many trades working exclusively with us. Our projects are very detailed and complicated in their design and execution, so we require an arsenal of very talented professionals to make these projects happen.
