Shalini Misra: The Best Luxury Interiors for Residential Developments

At Shalini Misra Ltd, they create global multi-award-winning interior design projects, specializing in luxury interiors for residential developments. Founded in 1996 by visionary property developer and interior designer Shalini Misra, the firm has developed a diverse portfolio of exceptional projects from across the globe. Taking a holistic approach, their design philosophy is centred around fusing old with new, layering lighting, textures and pattern, while playing with volume.

Jubilee Place, Chelsea

Shalini Misra’s clients’ vision for their home included an open plan ground floor for the reception and dining with floor and wall space for art and sculptures, and space to entertain; a new basement for the family area, kitchen, powder room and utility with sliding doors separating the kitchen and utility; an outdoor area at the back accessed from the basement; a terrace accessed from the first floor looking down to the basement courtyard; three spacious bedrooms with ample storage; and a central staircase connecting all floors as an architectural feature and the design core of the house. The brief for the feel was luxurious and comfortable with the art, sculpture and furniture to sit seamlessly together, melding into family life.

Farm House, India

This 25,000 sq ft family retreat residing in a suburban area south of Delhi, explores the intersection between the indoor and outdoor space through a visionary architectural and interior design approach. The development of the land it is set in was key to the design of this project. The home, set over two acres of land, was created in collaboration with landscape designers J2 with the intention to bring the family together in a peaceful space, surrounded by nature and incorporating elements of Vaastu. The home was envisioned to appear as if it was emerging from the landscape, ensuring the surrounding greenery could be experienced from all areas of the home.

Gilston Road, Chelsea

Designed and restored by Shalini Misra this detached 1850s property is spread over five floors in the conservation area of The Boltons in Chelsea, London. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden on three sides with three light wells dropping down to courtyards in the basement. The house aesthetically displays a range of styles, rich in architectural detail externally, with a recognizable Italian-villa design featuring a pyramid-roofed tower at the front of the property. A 4,500 square foot new basement was built which did not alter the external appearance of the house. The basement includes a swimming pool, gym, media room and three bedrooms. The total square footage of the house is over 9,500 square feet.

South Audley Street, Mayfair

Located on one of London’s most prestigious streets in the heart of Mayfair, this spacious three-bedroom apartment is a celebration of Shalini Misra’s vision and distinctive approach to interior design. Enriched with original Victorian features, including cornices and fireplaces, they retained the character and history of the property, while adding contemporary finishes, such as automation, air conditioning and underfloor heating. This luxury interior design-styled project was developed by Shalini Misra’s talented in-house team to go on the market, so fixtures and fittings were vital. For flooring they chose a striking monochrome marble design in the entrance, bathrooms and kitchens, complemented by rich, dark solid oak in a chevron pattern. Luxe wallcoverings were selected to add depth and texture to the space and the joinery was designed to exacting standards.

Lexington Avenue

Shalini Misra´s aim was to design an interior that was a familiar and warm space, where serenity and calm would be provided after a hectic day in the city while still mirroring the excitement of the bustling city in which it is located. One of the ways in which this was achieved was by combining pieces by local New York designers and studios with pieces from international designers as well as a mixture of vintage and contemporary sleek designs.

St. John’s Wood Residence

Bold architecture, British craft and interior design come together in Shalini Misra’s north London residence in St. John’s Wood. The dining area is large to accommodate an extended table and it flows into two seating areas. A vintage chandelier above the dining table is a nod to vintage craft. The marble flooring is custom-designed by Shalini Misra Ltd. The curve of the main staircase is enhanced with an ombre-toned runner with tones picked up in the photograph on the wall. The white painted inside of the balustrade contrasts beautifully with the custom walnut-painted exterior of the balustrade. The staircase was treated as a grand architectural element of the house, providing a striking feature as you enter the entrance and as you walk up and down through the levels. A flooring in the lower ground floor seating area shows the flooring detail next to a metal decorative grille custom design by Shalini Misra Ltd.
