Ábalos+Sentkiewicz is an international architecture office settled in Madrid (Spain) and Cambridge (US), directed by Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz.
Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz have taught in prestigious university centres such as GSD-Harvard University, Architectural Association, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton, ETSAM, combining the academic, professional and research activity. Iñaki Ábalos is currently Chaired Professor at ETSAM- Spain, and Chair of the Department of Architecture- GSD Harvard University-US.

The projects and built work of Ábalos+Sentkiewicz are internationally recognized, have been subject of 15 individual exhibitions and many collective exhibitions in the most prestigious centres, AA-London, Pavillon de l’arsenale-Paris, MoMA- NYC (MoMA has exhibited 5 built works in three different exhibitions: Light construction, ON Site, Groundswell)

This prestige also reflects in the 38 awards received (18 of them first prizes) in architecture competitions. Another 45 awards have been given to different research and design activities, 18 of them to Built Works. Their professional work has been collected in 10 monographs and their theoretical work has been compiled through 12 books.
Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz have worked together since 1999, first in Ábalos&Herreros and since 2006 in Ábalos+Sentkiewicz. The work they develop stands out for proposing an original synthesis of technical rigor, formal imagination and discipline integration between architecture, environment and landscape, an approach they have named “A Thermodynamic Beauty”. Their recent work has been collected in monographs as DA Architecture Doc.n. 63, COAA, 2007, Ábalos+Sentkiewicz (Thermodynamic beauty), 2G n.56 (GG, 2011), New Natures. Intermodal Station in Logroño (Q Estudio, 2013).
Ábalos+Sentkiewicz, with offices in Boston and Madrid, stands out in the contemporary scene as one of the few international firms to be able to combine a deep sense of authorship (all designs are personally directed by the partners of the firm) with a systematic collaborative attitude involving in the design process from the very first steps professionals of different fields, clients and institutions, something that is reflected in the success of their built work, both in the urban realm and specialized media.
Ábalos+Sentkiewicz is currently developing projects in Europe, Latin America and China. Their work is going to be collected in the monograph “Essays on Thermodynamics. Architecture and Beauty” (Actar, 2014).
