Headquartered in Hong Kong, Steve Leung Designers Ltd. has branch offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. With over 400 highly-calibred staff including experienced and qualified architects and interior designers, the company is now one of the biggest interior design consultancies in Asia.

The company works on a wide spectrum of design projects. Biography

Recognized internationally, Steve Leung is a leading architect, interior designer and product designer born in Hong Kong in 1957.

As a dedicated contemporary-style advocate, Steve’s works reflect a strong and unique character of minimalism, with skilful adoption of Asian culture and arts. His works include architecture, interior design, as well as product design.

Steve set up his own architectural and urban planning consultancy in 1987 and restructured the company into Steve Leung Architects Ltd. and Steve Leung Designers Ltd. in 1997. The company works on a wide spectrum of design projects – residential units, show flats, sales offices, handover standard units, club houses, offices, shopping malls, retails, hotels, restaurants and bars, etc.

In 2007, Steve established a chic lifestyle brand, 1957 & Co., extending his entrepreneurial footprint with the launch of a full spectrum of hospitality management projects. 1957 & Co. aims at putting Steve’s personal philosophy “Enjoy Life．Enjoy Design” in practice and sharing the art of living with others.

Over the past 17 years, Steve has led extensive famed projects in China and overseas and received high acclaim worldwide. Some of his most renowned projects include MX in Hong Kong, 39 Conduit Road in Hong Kong, Sing Yin at W Hong Kong, Yuan at Atlantis The Palm Dubai and Ushna restaurant in Abu Dhabi. During 1999 – 2014, Steve has been awarded the Andrew Martin International Interior Design Awards, the Oscars of design, for 12 times. The company has been credited with over 120 design and corporate awards in Asia Pacific region and worldwide, such as IIDA Annual Interior Design Competition, Commercial Interior Design Awards, Gold Key Awards, Hospitality Awards, Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards and HKDA Global Design Awards. In recent years, Steve has also been invited to be the juror of several authoritative interior design awards including the Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards 2009, iF Design Award China 2010, red dot award: product design 2012 and iF Communication Design Award 2014.

With a worldwide recognition, Steve is invited by various international brands to have collaborations with US Hunter Douglas for textile, Italy Former for furniture, Denmark Saga Furs for home accessories, Italy NEUTRA for sanitary ware, UK Graham and Brown for wallpaper, Italy Visionnaire for furniture and Germany Villeroy & Boch for sanitary ware.

In 2013, Steve was invited to join yoo, an international acclaimed design company founded by property entrepreneur John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck, as Creative Director of “Steve Leung & yoo”. In the same year, he was appointed as Executive Director of Design Committee at China National Interior Decoration Association (CIDA). In recent years, Steve has been playing a leading role in interior design industry in China.In 2014, Steve joined hand with interior designers from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to established “C Foundation” to promote the education and the development of the design industry.

In synergy with the growing interior design business, Steve Leung has branched out into furniture design. Manufactured and distributed through MAXXA, the first two series, the “i-chi” launched in 2001, and the “Cube” in 2003, became instantly popular in China and Japan, the European and other Asian markets – marking another milestone in his design career. The third series, “Ling Long”, launched in 2005, representing a crossover of Chinese and Western classical elements reinterpreted in contemporary language, with a refreshing touch of minimalism. In 2006, Steve was invited by a famous Japanese brand to design a whole new series, the “Tenchi”, to cater solely for the Japanese lifestyle. In 2010, Steve further enhanced the design of “i-chi” and launched its second generation – “i-chi II”, as well as the fifth furniture series “Luxe” in 2011. In 2015, Steve joined hand with Visionnaire, the leading Italian brand of luxury home furniture, to launch a new furniture collection “Nature’s Jewel Box”. In addition to furniture, Steve has been invited by international brand names to design other products, such as textiles, home accessories, bathroom vanity and wallpaper collection. Collaborating brand names include Former, Hunter Douglas Hospitality, Saga Furs, NEUTRA, Graham & Brown and Villeroy & Boch.
