British designer Tom Dixon is Maison&Objet designer of the year. The announcement comes just a few days before the start of one of the most important design events!

The Tunisia born designer has been one of the most important people in the British design scene and he is leaving his mark all over the world. Tom Dixon collections have been displayed in famous museums around the planet.

Tom Dixon design career is everything but “common” He dropped out of art school to play bass in the band ‘Funkapolitan’. He discovered his passion for making things when he learned how to solder, activity that, in the end, open the road to furniture designing.

Mr. Dixon first hit, in the mid 80’s, was the S chair that he designed for Italian company Capellini. Hit after hit Tom Dixon became one of the best designers in the world.

After setting up his own company in 2002 the Tom Dixon brand conquered the world. The Maison&Objet designer of the year has projects and pieces showcased in 63 countries.
