Portugal Home Week 2019 starts today in Oporto! This design event will bring together some top design minds such as Toni Grilo and Karim Rashid, but it will also present a curated selection of design furnishing that will showcase the latest and the best in furnishing and design from Portugal.
Portugal Home Week is an international B2B event, showcasing the latest and the best in furnishing and design from Portugal. A trade exhibition with a selection of the leading Portuguese companies, an international conference with key experts and high-level officials, and a programme of networking initiatives designed to promote the exchange of information and the development of business relationships between the event’s attendees.
The Home Summit
A two-day international conference with the industries’ major stakeholders, the Home Summit will be a privileged forum to discuss the latest developments and trends, as well as the most pressing challenges that the sector will face in the immediate future. Moreover, 4 keynote speakers, leading international figures in their areas of expertise, will share their personal experiences and perspectives on the themes under discussion. Karim Rashid will headline the conference, amongst other big names in the design industry, such as Tony Grilo from Christophle, and Nini Andrade Silva.
The Home Show
The Home Show is a trade fair of the leading Portuguese home and contract furnishing companies, showcasing a curated selection of their finest models, items and collections, giving visitors the opportunity to know the work and capabilities of Portuguese suppliers, and a better understanding of their quality, flexibility and business potential. A prolific designer in the industry, Karim’s work has a vast monopoly in the design world, among them being luxury goods for Christofle, Alessi, Veuve Clicquot, and Riva 1920 and timeless furniture for Tonelli and Vondom with exquisite lighting designs for the nonetheless Artemide and Fontana Arte and these are just some of the several pieces of the designer. With hands-on hospitality design in the world, the award-winning designer holds Honorary Doctorates from Carlton University, Pratt Institute, OCAD in Toronto, British Institute of Interior Design, and Corcoran College of Art & Design Contemporary artwork. Toni Grilo is already a known name in the world of design. The designer and art director born in France and graduated by the École Boulle in Paris in 2001 Toni Grilo is a distinguished designer with several collaborations – always with a stamp of quality and timelessness to it. The Artistic Director in 2013 of Topázio, prestigious centenary jewellery, Toni Grilo is the one to be aware of in this edition of Portugal Home Week. Nini Andrade Silva has made her job to get the best of the Portuguese design to the world. With works all over New York, London, Paris and South Africa, the distinguished designer has a different take on what design should be. Among the several awards, the designer has under her swing: 2018 World’s Leading Design Hotel for The Vine Hotel from the World Travel Awards.
