Nostalgia is a word that does not enter the vocabulary of Karim Rashid. According to him, the world would be very different if the human being is known to live in the present, surrounded by places, objects and inspiring and contemporary experiences.
For Rashid, the world is now and there is no room for traditions, rituals, kitsch objects or meaningless pieces.
Rashid design impresses because of the quantity (over 3000 pieces produced, 300 prizes and presence in 40 countries), diversity (furniture design, spaces, product, new technology, lighting, packaging, fashion, identity, surfaces and not only) and modernity.
Or it may be said, by today. When we come across any of their creations, appears to us the idea that it is a piece with a modern design, almost futuristic. However, as noted by the designer, his pieces are present, some already have two decades. It seems to be possible that their creations coexist with the spaces and objects that surround us because our sentimentality and appreciation for the history and tradition don’t allow us to forget the past, which ultimately settles as the present.
A design of fluid and organic lines, vibrant colors and iconic shapes are what Rashid offers. As part of his creations are characterized by flat colors , one to two apiece, others are populated by standards.
