She was raised in New Jersey. She was brought up by her grandparents as a teenager. Kristin’s grandparents allowed her to express her rebellious side while balancing their desire to keep her secure and provide her independence. She frequently frequented nightclubs in New York City, which affected her capacity for fantasy. She could lose herself in the music, listen, and take it all in. You weren’t conversing. All of it was simply a fantasy, says Kristin. “For me, that was really the start of engaging my imagination in a genuine way.”
Eventually, her grandmother spotted her creativity and exclaimed, “You’re going to be a designer.” Kirsten concurred.
Kristin attended the Pratt Institute in New York City to study design after high school. She obtained a design position in Shanghai after receiving her degree, in part due to her familiarity with the metric system. She had never seen a setting so dissimilar from her own culture before, but she was enthusiastic about the chance and kept an open mind about the event. “You just need to be quiet and take it all in and watch what happens when you’re outside of what is regular and comfortable for you,” the speaker said.
Kristin is still located in Los Angeles, where she keeps developing her ideas for environments that encourage interaction, amusement, and comfort. She has launched a new company called Furniture Clubhouse that makes it easier to get distinctive, high-quality furniture from artists throughout the world. “After ten years of working on worldwide design projects, I am aware of how challenging it is to have the highest quality goods transported directly to your home. It’s challenging to locate, purchase, and send. I want to make everything simple!”
