Born in Connecticut in 1944, Thom Mayne studied architecture at the University of Southern California and Harvard Graduate School of Design. He was a founding member of the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in 1972 and has held faculty positions at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
Together with Michael Brickler, Livio Santini and James Stafford, Mayne founded the Morphosis Architects, a top Architecture Fim that is responsible for some of the most iconic architectural projects in the United States. During his prestigious career, Mayne received many top honors and, in 2005, he received the biggest honors of them all: the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the equivalent of the Nobel Prize of Architecture.
