Philippe Starck’s Paris 2024 Olympic Medals Are Designed to Be Shared — One concept for potential Paris Olympic medals in 2024 or 2028 would be encouraging athletes to give the pieces to three people instrumental in their lives.
Although the Olympic Games in Paris will only take place in seven years from now, Best Interior Designers has some great news to share today: the imaginative design of the 2024 Olympic medals was already presented to the public by worldwide famous designer Phillipe Starck. After creating the design of Olympic Flame for the Winter Olimpic Games of Albertville in 1992, Starck has accepted the request of the Olimpic Commission to conceive the prestigious awards for the top athletes.

The entire design concept has a focus on the slogan of the Paris event, which is “made for sharing”, Starck has created a unique design that allows the main medal to be split into three other smaller medals that can be offered to anyone the winner fells is also deserving of the award.

This amazing piece features a rugged edge and illustrative embellishment on the front, but the main feature it’s clearly the possibility to split the medal into several parts. This is a visionary new style of Olimpic Medals that take the Olimpic Spirit to a new level.
On the surface, the design appears much the same as the typical sporting medal. However, should the athlete want to, they can split the disc into three additional sections.
Partly recycled materials were also used for the medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics. The silver and bronze medals were made of 30 percent recycled metals, while half of the plastic in the ribbons came from recycled bottles.
Philippe Starck, 68, is one of the most famous and prolific designers in the world. According to his website, he has designed 10,000 objects.
