The Johnson Studio at the Ritz-Carlton | The epitome of Sophistication

The Johnson Studio was tasked to relocate and re-design the experience of a Cigar Club at the Ritz-Carlton, in St. Louis. With the intention of hosting more than 300 members, the re-imagination of this space focused on creating a speakeasy concept with a nod to the Roaring 1920s: one that celebrates the love of cigars. With its intense way of living, BRABBU stated its presence in this unique design.

The design’s focal point is a dramatically illuminated bar located in the centre of the area, with card tables separating the lounge from the back room. The bar has back-lit brass and glass bar shelving, burl wood and brass bar die, and an Asian statuary marble bar top. Behind the bar are sliding glass and wood doors that may be closed off to create a private and exclusive area.

The coffered walnut wood-panelled ceiling was designed to conceal four smoke-eater systems and acoustic panelling, preventing smoke and sound from spreading throughout the hotel. The club is furnished with a selection of plush modern furniture ideal for the club’s exclusive customers.

With framed vintage cigar lighters and cutters, the artwork adds to the story. In a dark and refined setting, every element of the Cigar Club celebrates the guests’ love of cigars.
