Joep van Lieshout is a Top Artist that was born in 1963 and still lives and works in Rotterdam. His trademark materials are objects in mainly bright polyester that he has been using since the 80´s.In 1995 he founded Atelier Van Lieshout (AVL), undermining the myth of the individual artistic genius.
His atelier won worldwide recognition for his creations that balance on the boundary between art, architecture and design. These works of art are practical, uncomplicated and substantial. The inspirations of AVL studio are autarky, power, politics and the more classical themes of life and death.

Among his surprising creation you can found The Farm, a 2011 piece. This new tribal labyrinth recurs themes like the organization of labour, the structures of power and revolution are linked to the end of the world’s resources and subsequent self-sufficiency. It suggests a new world order.

The Wellness Skull is an impressive large skull. Just like Wellness centers it has a few places to relax. In the neck of the skull is a small bath. The head of the Skull contains a sauna. When it is working the hot steam pears out of the eye sockets. An interesting place to relax!
