Untitled-1

Euroluce 2013 brought some interesting inspirations for your projects. Have you been there? If not, here’s a top 10 lights that you must keep an eye on.

1. Globe Light by Studio Vit

A collection of small globe shaped pendants and large steel reflectors, exploring how spheres and bowls relate to each other.

2. Rituals by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba for Foscarini

The Palombas based their design on well-known Japanese paper lanterns. It’s made of blown and satin glass, etched by horizontal lines of varying thickness to give a poetic light.

3. Under My Tree lamp by Florian Brillet for Ligne Roset

under my tree

An outdoor lamp that can be hung from tree branches thanks to an unadorned wooden handle. The lacquered aluminium shell reveals a diffuser that also may be placed on the  ground. The black neoprene electric cable is almost five metres long.

4. Kroon by ZMIK for Moooi

This surprising take on the classic chandelier is adjustable from horizontal to vertical position.

5. Ascent by Daniel Rybakken for Luceplan

ascent luceplan

Extremely minimal light that dims when the lampshade is pushed down a vertical stem with integrated dimmer.

6. Shade Lamp by Paul Cocksedge for FLOS

shade lamp floos

An illusion of a lamp design that looks like it is suspended in mid-air, but it is actually suspended from the ceiling on ultra-thin wires. The light source is not within the shade, but on the floor, illuminating the paper shade from below.

7. Empty by Jörg Boner for Oluce

empty oluce

An elegant lamp by the Swiss designer that is composed of two overlapping canopies. The outer is enamelled and the inner is designed to refract light.

8. Stelle Filanti by Atelier Oi for Venini

This complex chandelier consists of a blown glass shade held in a lattice of leather with supporting plastic rods.

9. Apollo by Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova for La Chance

apollo la chance

This glass and marble floor lamp has a tilted base that makes it look as if it is just resting on the floor, or it just landed like the spaceship it is named after. We like the neat shape, and the contrast of bulky marble and light glass.

10. Chapeau lamp by Philippe Starck for FLOS

Only Starck could get away with a hat stand for a lamp. As a serious design though, Chapeau offers a customizable product, as one can put any hat on top of the actual light source.
