Best Interior Designers: Gaetano Pesce – a global legend

Gaetano Pesce is one of the most acclaimed persons in the world of architecture, design and art.

Mr. Pesce is a multi faced artist that makes a mark on everything he touches.

This living legend was born in 1939 in La Spezia, Italy. When he was 19 years old, Pesce went to the University of Venice. We studied Architecture during 5 years.

After that his life started to change. He has lived and taught architecture around the world: he worked at the Institut d’Architecture et d’Etudes Urbaines in Strasbourg, at the Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, at the Domus Academy in Milan, at the Polytechinc of Hong Kong, at the Architectural School of Sao Paulo and at the Cooper Union in New York City. This constant movement and travel allowed him to be inspired by the world and people..

Pesce loves to experiment with materials. He likes to be in touch with the modern ways, the latest materials and technology.His great inspiration is Raphael.

In the field of interior design, especially furniture, Mr Pesce has designed some impressive work by his own. He has created some pieces for international renowned brands like B&B Italia, Cassina and Vitra International. Tables lamps, chairs… there’s no limit to  what this man can design.

Mr. Gaetano Pesce has international recognition. His work in both design and architecture has been showcased around the world.

Some of his creations have been displayed in museums. Mr Pesce has permanent collections in  the “MoMa of New York and San Francisco, Metropolitan Museum in New York, Vitra Museum in Germany, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Pompidou Center and Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris”.

A man with so much talent and imagination isn’t going home without some awards: Italian Cultural Institute Lifetime Achievement Awards (2010), Designer of the Year, «A&W Architektur and Wohnen» (2008), Design Excellence Award, Philadelphia Museum of Art (2005),Good Design Award for the furniture collection “Nobody’s perfect” (2003),Interior Design Magazine Award for the “Umbrella” chair (1995), Special Prize at the Fourth International Lighting Design Competition for “Genesi?”(1973) and these are just some examples.
