London Design Festival Presents Design Frontiers 2017 — Since the London Design Festival rolls into town in a few weeks, it’s the perfect excuse to talk about the great events that take place during the celebrations.

This September will see the launch of Design Frontiers: a free, group exhibition of over 30 leading international designers at Somerset House in London. This independent production will run from 18-24 September, coinciding with London Design Festival 2017. Design Frontiers will illuminate the thinking and working practices of these celebrated designers, whose work is redefining the frontiers of their disciplines: from automotive to fashion, product design to graphics, digital to performance.
Luminous Reflections: Tord Boontje (Sep 16-24)
Nolii: Benjamin Hubert (Sep 16-24)
Benjamin Hubert and LAYER are launching nolii, a lifestyle-focused tech brand co-founded with design and tech entrepreneur Asad Hamir. Key products from the inaugural collection, designed by LAYER, will be previewed in an immersive installation that celebrates the simple beauty of being connected.
Mineral Gravity: Arik Levy (Sep 16-24)
Arik Levy’s collaboration with luxury surfaces company COMPAC, Mineral Gravity, involves a large-scale sculptural mono-block mineral quartz island that appears to float within its exhibition space like a black iceberg as if carved from a single block of quartz.
Please Don’t Feed the Designers: Paul Priestman (Sep 16-24)
The installation Please Don’t Feed the Designers will showcase real designers – from visualizers to materials specialists – working on real projects, allowing visitors to engage with the creative process and gain insight into what it’s like working at the frontiers of the future of transport.
Prototypa: Form Us With Love (Sep 16-24)
Swedish design studio, Form Us With Love, present Prototype, a platform that nurtures the relationship between industry and creatives through a dialogue about one of the most distinct parts of the design process—prototyping.
Axyl: Benjamin Hubert and LAYER (Sep 16-24)
Benjamin Hubert of experience design agency LAYER introduces the AXYL collection for Allermuir, where he creates a new range of sustainable furniture with a distinctive materiality and format.
Materialise: The Big Studio and Pentlands brands (Sep 16-24)
Katie Greenyer of Pentland Brands presents Materialise, a celebration of individual components that piece together in perfect harmony, creating products that help athletes swim faster, climb higher and train harder.
From creativity to reality and beyond: Jaguar (Sep 18-24)
Ian Callum, the director of design at Jaguar since 1999, explores the future of travel and the process of electrification in the automotive industry in an immersive, two-room installation – from the sketch to reality and the future of travel.
My Canvas: Kvadrat (Sep 18-24)
With contributions from 19 designers and artistic talents from around the globe, the Kvadrat exhibition ‘My Canvas’ pays homage to a Kvadrat staple: the vibrant and elegant upholstery textile Canvas 2, created and color set this year by renowned Italian colorist Giulio Ridolfo.

In its fifteenth edition, the London Design Festival will be returning to venues and institutions across the city between the 16-24 September 2017 to celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world.
