The skill of combining opposing ideas, trends and cultures is very difficult to master, which is why it makes the designer who has it so special. We have to admit we have a weakness for designers and artists who dare to step outside the box and show something completely extraordinary and unexpected. Today we are very excited to share with you fascinating person of Thomas Dariel, whose recent project we have published not so long ago (see: Lady Bund by Dariel Studio).
Born in 1982 Thomas Dariel comes from a family with great artistic heritage. Being a great grandson of a French furniture designer, grandson of a jazz musician and son of an architect let him grow up with curiosity and open mind. In 2004, Thomas Dariel graduated from L’Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique in Paris with master degree in industrial design. Only two years later, he moved to Shanghai, and established Dariel Studio specializing in interior design.
As an imaginative interior designer, industrial designer and creative, Thomas combines French design expertise with cultural influence of the East. He has completed over 60 projects within all main design areas (hospitality, commercial and residential), all having strong visual impact and distinctive style. Thomas also corporates with world’s top luxury house and home brands, and even created his own product brand MAISON DADA.
In Thomas’s point of view there is no such thing as the best design concept. As a result, he was always driven by a passion for turning upside down traditional codes and clichés in order to create the most unique spaces for his clients. Whether you look at his early playful, colorful, bold and provocative projects or late, neutral, restraining, cosy and leisurely works, you will always find something new and amazing. It is exactly what makes Thomas a favourite among media and brings design awards.
Through past 9 years, Thomas Dariel was widely recognized in the world of interior design and awarded (among others): Top 100 talents in Architecture and Design – Architectural Digest Magazine (AD) 2013, Top 40 Young Design Talents under 40 – 2013 Perspective 40 Under 40, Best International Design 2012 – Andrew Martin Interior Design Awards, Outstanding Designer 2012 – Modern Decoration International Media Awards.
